This unique canyoning experience launches from the company’s headquarters located in the small local town called “El Burrito”, about 20 minutes south of La Fortuna. They have a safe parking lot where you can leave your car, or you can organize transportation from anywhere in the La Fortuna area. It’s the ideal activity if you want to explore some of Costa Rica’s lush jungle while participating in a thrilling canyoning experience.

The Maquique canyoning adventure combines hiking, river tracing, waterfall repelling, and zip-lining for a unique way to experience the forest and waterfalls of the region. You’ll follow along a beautiful river canyon and participate in 2 zip-lines and 5 rappels, with the final descent going along a stunning 60 meter waterfall. The entire experience takes about 2-3 hours, and you will finish with an authentic Costa Rican meal. If you are still feeling adventurous after the canyoning tour, they also offer a combo tour with whitewater river rafting.

This adventure is appropriate for travelers of all experience levels and for children ages 5 and up. The guides are highly experienced and provide all the proper safety gear and instructions so you feel completely safe and comfortable throughout the tour. They will also take pictures of you throughout the trip and provide these to you for free at the end.

Be prepared to get wet and bring comfortable, quick-drying clothing if possible. They also recommend that you bring sturdy shoes for handling wet, slippery surfaces, and don’t forget a towel and change of clothes at the end. They have lockers to keep your belongings, or you can bring a water-proof bag to bring any personal items on the trip.
