This park is a great option for beginner hikers wanting to explore trails at the base of the Arenal Volcano. It is just 15 minutes away from the town of La Fortuna, and has up to 8 kilometers of trails leading through the forest and visiting lava flows from the volcanic eruption of 2010.

There are a total of 3 trails that you can explore, with the main trail being a nice beginner-friendly 2 kilometer trail leading to a wall of dried lava at the base of the volcano. The other major trail is 3 kilometers and great for spotting flora and fauna in the rainforest. Once you finish your hike, you can visit the lagoon and use the tarzan swing to jump in and cool off.

The price to enter the park is currently $17/person, however we would recommend that you spend the night camping, which has a cost of $15/person and gives you the same access to trails and the lagoon on the property. For an extra cost, there are several other activities that you can participate in at the park, such as kayaking, horseback riding, ATV tours, and night hikes.
