This peaceful campsite is located in the town of Uvita, right off of the Playa Chaman beach in the Marino Ballena National Park. It’s the perfect beachfront location to visit if you are interested in exploring the national park for it’s famous whale tail beach and whale/dolphin tours, or if you want a nice safe spot to spend the night when heading south to the Osa Peninsula or east to the South/Central Highlands.

It’s a nice private beachfront campsite with big open spaces for camping under the almond and palm trees. You’ll have access to small shelters in case of the rain, with amenities including lights, electricity, fresh water, and a private toilet and shower. The facilities are well maintained by Mayela, who owns the property and is passionate about keeping things tidy and making sure you have everything you need during your stay.

You’ll feel completely safe on this quiet, pleasant campsite with spectacular sunset views over the sea. You’ll be walking distance from the entrance of the Marino Ballena National Park, which is definitely worth a visit for exploring the beautiful beaches and visiting the famous “whale tail” beach, visible during low tide. You’re also right by the eclectic town of Uvita for a great selection of restaurants and super fresh seafood.

Uvita is known for its protected marine conditions that allow for whale migration down the coast in the months of August-November. There are several tour operators and local boat owners in the area that offer tours focused on diving, deep sea fishing, whale watching and snorkeling. You’ll also have the option to visit several hidden waterfalls if you’re heading up into the South/Central Highlands on route 243, such as Nauyaca, EcoChontales and Uvita Waterfall.
