This rural camping spot is located in the southern region of the country about an hours drive inland from the Southern Pacific Coast, and is located near the town of Térraba, known for its prevalent indigenous communities. This is a really unique campsite in a seldom visited part of the country where you can really get away from the tourist hot spots and participate in an authentic cultural experience.

The campsite is located on a small wooded property with options to stay in a small wooden cabin or set up camp in a small grassy parking area surrounded by trees. It’s a really nice quiet and isolated area and you’ll likely have the place to yourself, with access to a nice community room with tables and chairs and a kitchen.

You are welcome to organize a tour with the hosts of the property; they can take you on a trip to visit the waterfalls of the Térraba river, or, if you want a more cultural experience, they’ll take you into the Térraba town, where you will learn about diverse topics such as chocolate making, petroglyphs, cascades, and traditional carving. The area is also located near several Boruca settlements, which are known for their local handmade crafts like totems, petroglyphs, and wood carved and hand painted masks.

The Térraba road goes along a remote inland route that you can take when visiting the Osa Peninsula, which is an alternative to the highly traveled coastal road. This is one of the best rural routes in the country going from the central highlands towards the coast, as you’ll get to drive by the unique cultural towns and travel along the scenic Térraba river.
