Located just 20 minutes north of Liberia and 20 minutes southwest of the Rincon de La Vieja Volcano National Park, this riverside campsite is definitely worth the visit if you’re traveling in the northern region of the country and looking for a hiking adventure in the dry forest.

It is a nice spacious property with several spots to set up camp among the trees. The campground is located along the edge of a crystal-blue water river, so you’ll be able to hear the peaceful sound of running water throughout the night. In the case of rainy weather, you can set up a ground tent in the small wooden shelters located throughout the property, and they have access to firewood so you can set up a bonfire during the cool evenings.

This campsite is in the northern mountain region of Costa Rica, known for its dry forest with unique flora and fauna and beautiful rives and waterfalls. You’ll truly be able to experience the rich Guanacaste ecosystem at this campsite, with easy access to the nearby river and the surrounding forest which houses many animals, including monkeys and birds.

As a bonus, upon your arrival you’ll be able to coordinate with the owners to go tubing on the river or participate in a half-day hike to the La Leona Waterfall. This trail is perfect for adventurers of all ages, as it is mostly flat with a few steps and some minor navigating over some rocks. It’s just 400 meters along the river shore and into the forest to a light-blue waterfall hidden inside a rocky canyon formation.
