Catarata Las Trillizas (“The Triplets”) is located in the community of San Antonio, in Santa Cruz de Turrialba, Cartago province, near the base of Turrialba Volcano. Three distinct waterfalls, ranging from about 20 to 40 metres, cascade into pools amid lush rainforest scenery.
Reaching the falls involves a short but steep hike of 15 to 20 minutes, descending through a working dairy farm and secondary forest. The trail can get muddy after rain, so proper footwear is recommended along the way.
The setting is quiet and scenic, with plenty of birdlife around the property. There’s a restaurant and showers available near the entrance, making it a comfortable stop for a half-day outing close to Turrialba.
