This property is located right off the edge of the Marino Ballena National Park in Uvita, known for its famous “whale tail” beach and for the protected waters which allow for whale migration down the coast. It’s definitely worth the visit for those looking for easy access to the national park and wanting to experience a whale/dolphin tour.

The campsite is located in a nice isolated area within the protected forest surrounding the national park, so you’ll have the chance to get up and close with the wildlife including monkeys, iguanas, and tropical birds. You’ll be just 50 meters away from the Uvita beach, so it’s a nice secret way to enter the park without paying for a ticket or guided tour.

There are loads of tour operators in the area of Uvita and Dominical for whale watching, snorkeling, boat fishing and even diving – just make sure to do your research to get a fair price and visit in the best season for wildlife spotting (whale migration lasts from August-November).

This is the perfect half-way point to stop when heading to the Drake Bay, Isla del Caño, or Puerto Jimenez from the SJO airport. Or, when you’re heading back up from the Osa Peninsula, we recommend this campsite as the last beach stop before heading into the chilly central highlands for a mountain camping experience.
