This is a beautiful campsite located at the entrance of the famous “Tesoro Escondido // Hidden Treasure” waterfall hike, located in the Bajos del Toro region of the country, about 1.5 hours north of the SJO airport. This is a great place to stop if you want to explore the unique transition forest of the Central Highlands region of the country, known for its spectacular nature trails and hidden waterfalls.

The camping area is located on a large open property with beautiful mountain views, perfect for families or groups of friends. They have access to clean facilities and several cabins that you can stay in in the case of a rainy evening. The hosts also offer tour packages that include kayaking or hiking the series of trails that lead to waterfalls, natural pools, and beautiful viewpoints, with the option to include a typical Costa Rican breakfast or lunch as well.

Bajos del Toro is located in the Central Highlands of Costa Rica and is known for being the transition between the rainforest and the cloud forest due to its intermediate elevation range. Here at this campsite you’ll really get to know the transition forest ecosystem, with more than 8 kilometers of hiking trails into the forest. You can easily spend the whole day exploring the waterfalls and natural pools from the property, or you can enjoy nearby activities such as the El Toro Waterfall or the Termales del Bosque.
