This campsite is located just 1.5 hours south of the SJO airport and is a great place to stay if you’re heading down the Pacific Coast to explore the beaches and waterfalls in the region. It’s the ideal campsite for a private night of camping with the option to do a morning waterfall hike before heading to the coast, with many nice beaches nearby and the town of Jaco about 40 minutes to the south.

The campsite is located on a quiet hidden property close to the Carara National Park. They have a designated open area for campers with all the necessary facilities, and can provide a lunch for you if you coordinate by WhatsApp. The weather gets cool in the evenings for a fresh night of sleeping, and on summer nights (December-April) it can get a bit windy but it will feel refreshing after a hot summer day.

The owners of the property offer an epic hiking experience to the surrounding natural pools and the Bijagual Waterfall, which is a breathtaking, 300-meter high waterfall. The hike takes about 2 hours to compete on average, but be aware that the end of the trail includes about 200 meters of steep steps, so its best to have some patience and be prepared for a steep climb on the way back.

The campsite is also a quick 5 minute drive from the town of Bijagual, which is a small local picturesque town with tasty authentic food places known as “sodas” which use local ingredients in a typical Costa Rican lunch or breakfast.
