Above a historic mining town in Abangares, Guanacaste, in the foothills of the Tilarán mountain range, La Colina Goldmine offers one of the widest panoramas in the area: the view stretches across the Abangares valley and over the Gulf of Nicoya toward the Nicoya Peninsula, a region designated a Blue Zone in 2004 by National Geographic Explorer Dan Buettner and known worldwide for the longevity of its residents.

The camping area sits directly above a quartz vein and has a bathroom, shower, laundry, grill and its own trails. A light, cool breeze blows at night, and the open ground is well suited for guests traveling with solar power or Starlink. The cabins, in turn, offer full kitchens, air conditioning and hot-water showers.

Sunset over the hills and distant islands is one of the most anticipated moments of the day, followed by the offerings of the panoramic food truck that operates at dusk. It’s a place that combines nature, mining history and one of the best views of the Gulf of Nicoya from the mainland.
