Blue River Cacao

This is a perfect riverside place on the lowlands of the Northern side of the country at 1.5 hours from the Arenal Volcano you will basically be following the whole northern volcanic line if you do a route from La Fortuna, passing by here, then Miravalles Volcano to finish at the Rincon de la Vieja National Park.

The well known “Rio Celeste” / Light Blue River is literally one jump away from where you are camping making a sunny morning a colorful scenario with usually toucans steeling fruits and seeds from local trees
Even when this area is know for its humid weather being at the riverside makes small breeze running around the campsite and nice water running sound for a perfect sleeping night.

Facilities are rather basic but with shelters in case of raini nights if needed for a ground tent
There are designated areas where you can make bonfires and restrooms and showers are basic nut always clean
This place is out of the crowdness of the entrance of the National Park making perfect for resting after hiking for a few hours there, located just 30 minutes away

Note:

when the weather is way to rainy on this northern lowlands you might not see a beautiful light blue color river so, consider if you see the weather is to rainy to go over the Rincon de la Vieja area where there. is also light blue color rivers, hikes, hotsprings and waterfalls that keeps most of the time blue even on rough raining season
