This campsite is located by the town of Orotina, which is right off of highway 27 just 45 minutes west of the SJO airport on the way to the Pacific coast. It’s the perfect family-friendly spot to spend a night before catching the ferry from Puntarenas to the Nicoya Peninsula, or before heading down to the beaches of the Pacific Coast such as Jaco and Manuel Anotonio.

The property includes a large open grassy area where you can set up your tent out in the open or sheltered by trees. The grounds are well maintained and include proper shelters with BBQ grills, faucets, lights, and outlets to plug in your items. Although the campsite is close to the town, you will be completely surrounded by the forest for a peaceful night of sleep isolated from outside noises.

The name of the campsite translates to “white river pool”, which is in reference the white/light-green waters of the natural pool on the property, created by the Machuca River. This refreshing, natural river pool is surrounded by white rocks and about 1.5 meters deep, making for the perfect spot to swim in on a hot day. You can also stop by the local restaurant which offers a nice lounge atmosphere and a wide selection of meats, pizza, local food, seafood, and vegan options.
