In Pejibaye de Atirro, in the mountains of Cartago, Quijote Experiencia Rural occupies a privileged lookout point with 360-degree views that reach as far as two distant volcanoes. It’s a 400-hectare family farm turned rainforest reserve, where silence and privacy are the norm.
The camping area is thoughtfully laid out: it includes bathrooms, a firepit area with a grill, tables, benches and a well-built bamboo structure under which most overland vehicles can shelter. The Atirro River runs through the property and forms natural pools that are ideal for cooling off after a sunny day.
Despite the remote setting, cell signal works across the property and Starlink service is available, along with generator electricity when arranged ahead of time. Erika and her family personally welcome each group of visitors, giving the place a warm, genuine character typical of Costa Rican rural tourism.
