This campsite is located on the far northwestern part of the Guanacaste Coast just below the Nicaragua border near the town of “La Cruz”. The peaceful, hidden beaches of this region, including Papaturro, Rajada, Rajadita, and Puerto Zoley, are often underestimated and less frequently visited due to their remote location about an hour north of Liberia. This destination is definitely worth the visit if you’re looking to stay in an isolated paradise close to beautiful beaches before traveling down the Pacific Coast towards the Nicoya Peninsula.
The Treehouse Camping Zone has a large open property with access to green spaces where you can park and set up your tent anywhere you like. You can also set up camp at one of their small shelters, which have access to BBQ grills, outlets, a small table, and sinks. The hosts take care to keep the bathrooms and showers well maintained, and there is a small playground on the property so it’s a great place to visit when traveling with small children.
This campsite is in the perfect convenient location close to many small hidden beaches, so you can spend the day exploring the area before returning to a safe and quite night under the stars. In addition, the Junquillal Wildlife Refuge is just a short 25 minute drive to the south, which is a beautiful protected area with opportunities for hiking through the mangroves, snorkeling, kayaking, and camping.
“La Cruz” is a rural area that is not very touristy, so it’s the perfect spot to stay if you’re looking to get away from the overcrowded beach hotspots during popular travel dates such as Easter, Summer Vacations, Christmas and New Years. In addition, this area has a constant breeze due to the cold water current coming from the North Pacific, making for a cool night of camping away from the hot and humid southern coastal areas.
