This beachfront campsite is located on the Dominical beach, known for its great surfing conditions and for being in a convenient location along the Pacific Coast right by route 243, which heads inland towards the South/Central Highlands. It’s the ideal stop for surf enthusiasts and for those who are wanting a last beachfront night before heading into the cool mountain region to the northeast.

The campsite is located on the “El Coco” restaurant property, which has access to a large open parking area right in front of the Dominical beach. The long open beach offers a chance to walk along the rocky shore and enjoy the beautiful sunset directly from your campsite. You’ll have free access outdoor showers and proper restroom facilities, and they lock up at night with a security guard so you’ll feel completely secure throughout the night.

The Dominical beach is best known for its great surfing conditions for surfers of all levels, with consistent, medium-sized waves all along the ~4km of beach shore. No worries if you don’t have a surfboard, as there are always locals along the beach renting out boards and offering surf lessons. You can also walk to the town of Dominical, which is a small, laid-back town with nice restaurant and cafe options.

Dominical is located just ~20 minutes up the coast from Uvita, which is famous for its chance to spot whales as they migrate down the coast from late July until November. There are also many great waterfall hikes as you head inland on route 243 which are worth a visit, including the Nauyaca and Diamante Waterfalls.
